I was given the above ,capture card, programs, book- legal-, by mistake. I cannot use it since I live in a Pal country.
Any ideas whether I can do anything with it all the same. Thanks

  2. I am in the same boat but can happliy capture PAL using the NTSC version of Studio 8AV but occasionally the driver reverts back to NTSC for no apparent reason. If I uninstall the DC10 drivers then reinstall, I can then use PAL for a month or so until it happenes again. Make sure you select PAL when first installing the drivers.

If that doesnt work, here is some text I collected from various sources which didn't work for me but might work for you.

    Good luck.

    ************************************************** **********************************

For W2K or WinXP you should save the text between the dotted lines with an editor to a PALNTSC.REG file:
    ......................................
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{58B973C 1-5580-11d3-AEAD-00105A5E1DA8}]

    @="2.0"
    ......................................
Doubleclick it. Open REGEDIT. Press F5. Quit. Launch Studio. (Or restart the system, too.)
    -----------------------------------------------
For W98SE (and maybe ME) you should save the text between the dotted lines with an editor to a NTSCPAL.REG file:
    ......................................
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{58B973C 1-5580-11d3-AEAD-00105A5E1DA8}]

It's very important to see a
    @="2.0"
    in

    Dan,
Did you ever sort this? I don't think it's a faulty card.I had exactly the same problem until I applied the dll file from the following site:

    http://plugins.members.easyspace.com/dll.htm

in the file "Up to 1.06.ZIP" you will find another dll only copy misici.dll to "c:\windows\system\"
Dont bother with rest (forcing DC10 to act like DC30)and you should have the possibility to select PAL on output and colors in PAL-capture.

Check in VidCap that you have the option to select PAL - bingo, full colour capture! Actually, the first time I tried, the software wouldn't even start, but was fine after re-installing and re-copying the dll.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the help.
Pinnacle support called me yesterday to say that its a faulty card and it needs to be replaced thanks bye and hung up (it is a long distance call, but still).
Now I need to get them to give me a replacement code that I give to the store to exchange it for a (hopefully) working one.
I swear I'm beginning to think this is more trouble than its worth - they're not answering their phones at (what i'm guessing are) their offices and they're taking YEARS to answer their emails I think.
(this is the Australian office in Melbourne).
    *sigh*

    Thanks for the help though,

Dan where did you get your card,U.S cards are NTSC only Oz and European cards are multi format, under setup>capture,is PAL selected,When you first installed which format did you select as your default. If it was NTSC this may be the reason it always defaults to that format,I'm not sure if selecting PAL will change this default or it will always be NTSC,perhaps Mike Iampietro will get his techies to reply
    Hope this helps .

The "Studio DC10plus Control" (with the icon in the tray) only has an option for NTSC.

Also the "StudioDC10 Hardware Test" and "miroVideo Expert" options ALWAYS revert back to NTSC, despite me contintually selecting PAL/SECAM. Am I not saving the options correctly?

    Finaly work under W98SE!
But, I must go to plugins.members.easyspace.com/dll.htm and download file "up_to_1.06.zip", replace misici.dll in Windows\system folder, run dc10.reg and finaly start to capture in Studio8
    NextStep is WindowsXP.

Dust, you are genius. I spent all weekend to install Linux on my computer, because under the linux this PAL/NTSC problem doesn't exist
Today, I am back to Windoze.
Anybody can do same thing with XP .reg file?
    Pinnacle maybe...

    Hi all,

I had the same problem and could solve it (at least for me) using a registry hack. I already posted it at otehr places, but.. well, the more the better. Just hope it is of use

After a complete reinstallation and using "regdelete" utility v5 (checking also the "Studio 7", not only the "Studio DC10+", box), I found the board again 'free' in PAL mode. I rebooted several times then. After maybe 5 reboots, the system was locked in NTSC one more time - without any otherwise extraordinary event in the boot procedure *bummer*.

BUT - this time I used ART (a registry shnapshot tool) and made a registry shot at the moment the card was working in PAL mode. Later, after it was again locked in NTSC mode, I made another snapshot and compared the two of them (ART can do that automatically). So I found differences in [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Pinnacle Systems\miroVIDEO MJPG\ConfigData] and [....\VideoControl]. These are long byte sequences, and I don't know where exactly the relevant byte is. I just exported the PAL-registry to a file (PAL.reg) and, while the card was locked in NTSC-mode, I stopped misiTray, loaded PAL.reg, and restarted misiTray. Bingo - PAL was open again!

You find my PAL.reg file below. Be careful in applying it, this is only for W98SE (not W2000), and of course something in your setup might be different; so save your registry before applying PAL.reg or perform the changes manually by comparing your data with mine. Even better, repeat teh same process I did using ART. I'll also append the relevant part of the registry snapshot in the NTSC-lockup-mode, so you see what exactly changed in between. Obviously, only sequences in ConfigData and VideoControl are changed, teh rest could probably easily be cut out of PAL.reg (Audio settings and the like). Cut between the 2 "---------------- cut here -----------------" lines to extract PAL.reg:

    To NenadX:

So, which one of the Pinnacle products allows you to switch back and forth NTSC vs PAL? Any suggestions?... Most of my output is going to be in PAL, but my camcorder is NTSC, that's why I wanted to buy a Pinnacle system that would allow me to make a movie in PAL. Please, HELP!!!

    Thanks.
