I haven't had much experience editiing Mpeg2 files (have only done avi in the past), so forgive me if this is a basic question.

What I need is a program that will accept an mpeg2 system stream file (m2v) and its matching mpeg1-layerII audio file and multiplex them together (without re-encoding) and then allow me to edit this resulting file, which will then be rendered only once as a regular Mpeg2 dvd-compliant file.

(before anyone asks, the reason I need to do this is because I am capturing to mpeg2 directly with MovieStar5 and the DVC 150, and in order to avoid jumpy video, I must render the audio stream separately from the video and then rejoin this rendered audio stream with the video before editing.)

I know TMPGEnc Plus can do the multiplexing, but can it do it without re-encoding? I don't want to encode more than once (as I would have to do so again after editing), as each time quaility is lost. Therefore I'd like to do the editing in the same program as the multiplexing.

Any suggestions?
