  2. Thanks, it did fix the bus error

Yeaaahh...I think one of the testers mentioned something about that.

I believe it works for divx. I really need to get my hands on that damned dvd, as well as a couple of criterion dvds to figure out what in hell they are doing.

I will tell you this: After this project, I have come to have both a new love and bitter hatred for the DVD "standard"

And Ross. Thanks man. Really. Contact me on AIM for some software you can use to help you move forward with your own development efforts, as well as some tips and theory on how, and why this works.

    You too, major

You guys started it all with the wrappers, giving the NORMAL Mac Users *accessability* to the mjpeg tool chain.

We just wanted to take it to 2.0

  4. I'm launching a test encode with your app which seems very nice. Where should mpeg2enc being located? (I'm testing with a laptop which is not connected to the internet)

    drag a copy to /Library/Application Support/forty-two

I *believe* bilestyle put code in that auto grabs it and puts it there if it isn't. He mentioned it but I don't know if he got it in or not. I guess I could just check the source, lol...

BTW..if any of you *know* Kevin (bile) or no how to get in contact with him in The Real World, try to. He has been MIA for about 4 days, and I'm beginning to become concerned.

Hmm....I dragged it to ~/Library/Application Support/forty-two but I keep getting a messag ethat it is missing and do I want to download it. I click yes and you get this Applescript error. I downloaded it from your link using wget and it works fine in other apps.

  7. Whoops it sees the items when you use /Library/... (ie one can't use the Library in home).

Now to see if it works

Here's a mirror, in case someone commits the folly of posting to vt or something:
    homepage.mac.com/wiseweasel/forty-two.dmg.bz2
Maybe a few more and it will be safe to post to vt . . .
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  9. Kai,

Any chance of adding support for Chinese-language? I tried Crouching Tiger last night, attempting to get the original Chinese language with English subtitles. Subtitles were fine of course, but there was no way to select Chinese for the language. I think the code for Chinese is 'zh'.

By the way, just for the heck of it I tried picking Japanese to see what would happen. To my surprise it used the Director's Commentary audio track.

    HRM.

erase whatever you have in there now for mpeg2enc, open a term and paste this in. It should all be on one line:

    cd /Library/Application\ Support/forty-two && curl http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/MacOS/mpeg2enc -O

Then run forty-two again. It should work fine. I will check the code in the GUI to see whats wrong.

i got the following on my first try. the video that it encoded looks beautiful, it's the reg. 2 japan spirited away dvd, but at the end it couldn't find the ac3 file?? if i just rip the ac3 file and author in dsp you think it will sync up? or do i eed to start all over? cause it went from about 1 am to 11am. at the begging of the process, i also kept getting "your computer is too slow" messages. i have a dp 800 10.2.3, with just over a gig of RAM. not the fastest kid on the block, but not slow either, why was i getting this message?

any thoughts from below? (this is what was on the end of the terminal screen, it didn't have anything left from the very beginning part.)

I have never seen this error! I hate that. I have no idea what could have caused it.

As for trying to sync separate...i don't think thats going to work for you, because the timecode is different. to save the effort, its worth a shot tho.

I wish I had a faster computer...perhaps someone here has this dvd and can give it a try.
