  1. when i use TMPGEnc to encode an avi movie to vcd, it takes way too long, it says 25+ hrs remaining, goin preety slow, why is this ?

    Second, how long is the movie you are encoding?

    Final, what properties are you encoding the movie with (i.e. resolution, quality, etc.)?

  3. i got windows 2000 SP2, FAT32, 128MB of ram, about 2 gig left, but i need to make vcds of all my movies, the source avi is 585,935 KB, PIII 1Ghtz, Video -->Stream Type - MPEG-1 VIDEO, 352x240, 29.97 fps, bit rate - 857 kbit/sec, VBV Buffer Size, 0 (AUTO), Motion Search (normal), ADVANCED Video Source Type - Non-Interlace (progressive), Feild - Bottom (B), Video arrange method - Full Screen (to get the letterbox full screen), Filters used - Noise Reduction, and Clip Frame, AUDIO Stream Type - MPEG-1 Audio Layer II, Bit Rate 224 kbits/sec, SYSTEM Stream Type - MPEG-1 Video-CD, Is that enough info

  5. those filters are the reason its taking so long, oh and by the way, those filters are not worth it.

    I agree with Nomadxjl its definately the filters in this programme.. also if the movie is in widescreen / letterbox use the clip frame tool to remove the black bars, this way tmpeg will only encode what it sees not the black bars.. the black bars will still be there when youve finished though. If you want to remove the black bars altogether do the same but encode it as 4:3 and this will stretch the picture. Doing this will cut down encoding time.... so use Clip Frame...
