I have two large SVCD/MPEG-2 files which I want to join, and then split into three parts. My standalone DVD player only supports SVCD with the VCD Header trick.
Since this is my first time both making an SVCD and cutting/joining, I was wondering, should I first multiplex the two SVCD files (use the VCD header trick to "re-encode" to MPEG-1) and then join and resplit them, or should this be the final editing step before burning? I hear cutting and joing MPEG-2 files is difficult to do perfectly and can cause a lot of errors in the resulting files. Would performing the VCD header trick be a potential way to avoid these hazzards?
