How do i convert mpg file to a smaller avi format

I have a 600+ mb mpg file & i need to convert it to 125+ avi format. Howe can i do that.

Mpeg 1 or Mpeg 2 ?

You can use Mpeg 1 with Vdub, just set video/audio to full processing more and chose a compression codec for the output

If its Mpeg 2, you need to use TMPGEnc and select file > output to file > AVI > Codec etc

Actually the newest verison (or the newest mod, can't remember which) of VDub will open/read mpeg2 files now.

Must be a mod then, because vdub wont open Mpeg 2

It's a VirtualDubMod offshoot (not Avery's) but probably one of the best they could have gotten together.

Yes I already have it, but I don't recomend things unless they are well proven, like Vdub MP3, I don't even recomend Nandub
