  1. HI all,

I taped a movie and have sliced it up with TMPgenc.......

I put all parts into Nero, and now I'm about 10 minutes short, on the blooming disc.

I read on the main page here on VCDHelp.com that you can use Tmpgenc to squeeze a movie down.

This is way out of my league, are they any tips ? info anyone can give ?
or has somebody already written a tututorial on how to go about this ?

    Thanks in advance

I disagree, it is NOT out of your league. This site believes it is so simple, it is part of the "Newbie" section. Anyway, here is the link. Click here.

    1. How long (total) is the movie in minutes?

    2. Are you encoding to VCD or SVCD format?

    3. Are you encoding with TMPGenc or Nero?

Without the above information (and assuming you have a 90 minute movie), if you are encoding to VCD format, than there is no way to encode 90 minutes on a standard 80 minute CD without making an XVCD.

  4. Hi there,

I recorded the movie is about 90 minutes, - it's about 10 minutes over an 80 minute disc.

I have the movie all sliced into sections, about 10 minutes each
so I can skip thru to different parts quickly.

the film is in VCD format right now, and I"m using Nero to burn it out.

...but you could get a 90 (or 99) min CD-R, and get away with 90 min of movie!

Yes, you could use a 90 or 99 minute CD, provided your CD Burner, and any DVD players you want to use it in support these non-standard disks.

If you are going to use 80 minute disks, then you will have to make it an XVCD. XVCDs do not necessarily play in any player that plays VCDs.

    There is a guide here:

  7. Hi Guys,

    Appreciate all your help !

By the way, I tried the tutorial and it worked !

Funny thing, it will NOT work with any other version than the
newest one..... ? strange.......... but I did see something posted on the front page of this site concerning this.....

I dropped the VCD down to 900kbps, and it all fit on an 80 minute CDR,
    I'm pretty impressed !

I changed the kbytes but also the tutorial says to change
VBV BUFFER size from 40 down to 0, which I did, but.....
** I have no clue why ** can anyone explain this ?

    thanks in advance.
