  1. hello,

I am having a major dillema. I did everything i was suppose to do, but i still can't burn a vcd! I converted it to mpeg, i removed the logo from it, i fixed the sound, i merged together the two parts of it, i did the layout using Phillips Toolkit, but it still tells me that i can't burn the stupid movie. It keeps saying "ERROR: too many sectors" or some crap like that. After all the work i have done to this movie to make it perfect, i am VERY annoyed by this new problem. Someone, please help me!! If you need more info to help me, just leave a post and i'll get back to you. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks a million

Are you trying to burn a 1.39 GB file to a CD-R???
    Do you have a 1.40GB CD-R?
Where did you buy it, do you need a special burner?

like an audio cd a vcd can only hold 74 minutes of video. you shouldnt have merged the 2 parts together, they were seperate parts because they were cut for vcd size. a typical movie is 2 cd's in vcd format.

the one thing you forgot to do was to slow down and read the guides and other information available on this site. if you check the links to the left im sure you can find step by step guides to help you through and aspect of vcd creation you will encounter.
    peace out,

  9. I burned 97 mins onto a svcd template that i made myself, the source wasnt great quality so it still looked good, I think the video was 997kbps and audio 96 and it lloked like a normal vcd but all fit on one 80 min cd.

Kooky_e: although it worked on Barnsey's player, it is EXTREMELY likely that it wont work on yours, as 997 kbps is a longway underneath the vcd specs, and btw, the quality on this would be so poor, that it would hardly be watchable. It it advisable to a) burn it onto 2 cds, or b) use sefy's sxvcd templates, located under the Tools section. I have burned 95 minutes onto a 80 m in cdr with audio @ 128, and still got good quality, not excellent, but watchable. Give it a go.

  13. To Bollox-King:

It takes balls to act like a complete jackass like you in the safety of your own home. I'm sure you never "whimpered" or asked anyone for help and I'm sure YOU were never a NEWBIE, right? This board could certainly do without you.

Listen to me you idiot. I'm not a computer geek like u r, so i don't know where to look for the so- called "basic research" as you call it. I'm sure that you were born smart, that you never had to "whimper" and ask anyone for help? Am I right? I totally agree with mile_3, it takes a total and complete ******* and alot of balls to say something like that in they safety and comfort of your home. This site could do without scum like you.

  16. kooky_e: as much as you want to dislike him, he has a point. I am new to creating vcds and video production for that matter and one thing I've learned so far is to read and practice A LOT. You can get somebody to tell you exactly what to do but that will be the extent of your knowledge. But then again if that's all you want..... Good luck!

  17. kooke_y, XMal has a point. Indeed my own experience has taught me that going through the help files, tips and tricks in the forum, and practicing making VCD's (with CDRW's or Rewritable CD's) is very beneficial. In my case, I spent almost two weeks trying to experiment with this and that software and reading here and there before I finally was satisfied with an output that I burnt on a CDR instead of a CDRW. And 30 vcd's since then I still do consider myself a newbie. To think that I am simply focusing on creating VCD's. I am not yet into SVCD's or XVCD's or ripping DVD's.

Nonetheless, I do hope that the odious behavior exhibited by the other guy will not discourage you at all from pursuing more knowledge and skill in vcd creation.

  18. I understand what you are trying to tell me that even though he's acting alot like a jerk, there is some truth in his words. I just think that maybe he didn't have to put it that way. Oh well. That's just me.

I also figured out another thing. VDub can open my mpg's, but it crashes every time I try to open an .avi I'm still trying to find out a way to make it play my .avi's, but if anyone knows how i can, i will gladly take the help.

    Thanks a million
