  1. Hi
I have a movie in AVI , I use VirtualDub 1.4.13 , add subtitle with filter TextSub and start frameserver to TMPGEnc. When I want to open the file *.vdr and receive message "can not open or unsupported ". I've tried rename the *.vdr file to *.vdr.avi but tmpgenc does not reconize the file.

Is there another method to add permenant subtitle to AVI and encode to MPEG1 (VCD), except that? Please help me!

The only thing i can think off is that the Vfpai plug-in is set to low.

Startup Tmpegnc and goto---> option/Enviromental setting/VFPAI plugin, in there Right Click on all the plugin's and set them to a higher priority.

For example all my plugins are set at 10, and setting to a higher priority will solve any other problems you might run into.

  3. I set all the VFAPI plugins in TMPDEnc to priority 10 - whithout change.

    Ok,

Try using another version of VDUB

Something like VirtualDub-1_4_9 which is still on there website.

  5. I tried with VirtualDub 1.4.9 and TMPGEnc 2.59 -without any change.
And I attempted VirtualDub 1.4.13 and Handler of VirtualDub 1.4.9-the result was the same.

If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, try the VCM frameserving method. I think it's pretty good. The following link will take you to a complete explanation and instructions:

    http://www.digtv.ws/html/howto/vcm.php

    Good Luck!

  8. fravel,
Thank's for your help. I have Windows XP and I tried to use the VCM frameserving method. I read the link with instructions:
    http://www.digtv.ws/html/howto/vcm.php to install the VCM.

Then I opened the AVI file, apply filter TextSub , set the Video and Audio to direct stream copy and start frameserver: name VCM. To this moment I followed instructions, but I didn't use vd.stripe file.
When the Save VDR box appears I saved this file "test.vdr".

Then I start TMPGEnc and file "test.vdr" is allready accessible . Now everything is OK. Thank you for help.

Could you give me more information about vd.stripe file, because I couldn't undestand it.
"Then use the vd.stripe file to create the AVI file, this will direct stream copy the audio track to the destination AVI file.

According to Avery Lee, VirtualDub's author, the stripe definition file tells VirtualDub that you are creating a stripe system consisting of 1 stripe, and that this stripe will contain only index marks and audio. Note that there’s no video stripe included.
    Hope this helps.

Oh, by the way, you don't have to save or use the .vdr file. When you click on "start frameserve" in VirtualDub's menu, and you are asked for a frameserver name, enter VCM. When a window pops up asking to save the .vdr signpost click Cancel and you'll have a file named "vcmready.avi". That's what you open in Tmpegenc.
    Cheers!

    n_ganeva,
Try previewing the movie in Vdub with the filters and see if the subtitles are synched with the movie. If they are, and you have more than one filter applied, try moving the subtitling filter up or down.
Another thing, there are two subtitling filters for Vdub: Subtitler by Avery Lee and Subtitling by Enforcer. You might want to try each one.

  13. My subtitle is *.sub(*.txt) and I use TextSub(it is for srt, sub, ssa subtitles).

I have subtitling filter by Avery Lee , but it is for *.ssa subtitle.

Where I can found "Subtitling by Enforcer" or something else for *.sub and *txt?

Check Vdub Home Page. THere is a link to various plug-ins. Regarding VCM frameserving, try to follow the instructions step by step.
    Good Luck!
