  1. I'm trying to desample this movie from 448 to 441khz, but when I change TMPGEnc to use SSRC, I get this:

    Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? A DOS window DOES popup, and it begins resampling, but TMPGEnc stops right there.

    Any ideas?

    I don't use WindowsXP, but I believe it doesn't support DOS programs, which SSRC is.

    I do run XP and ssrc functions perfectly. It runs from a command prompt and isn't strictly a DOS based program. As to the error you're incountering my only suggestion would be to try and replace the ssrc executable with a fresh copy and give that go to see if it was corrupted. If not then the problem is elsewhere and unless you provide more details all anyone can do is guess.

    In which case I suggest extracting the audio as an uncompressed wav, and resampling separately from a command prompt.

    Just to clarify my previous post, there is no DOS in Windows XP as in Win 9x based OS's. Running SSRC from within TMPGEnc only invokes the command prompt but I guess you could consider it a DOS based application. Conversion from a command prompt could be accomplished if one felt compelled to do so, however this might be a daunting task for someone who is not familiar with all the necessary switches to acomplish the task and not one I'd recommend for a beginner.
    @MSlave,
    by details I meant some information about the file your trying to convert such as whether or not it's encoded with a VBR mp3 audio track or CBR or something all together different? In any case banjazzer's suggestion about converting it to an uncompressed wave before attempting to process it thru TMPGEnc is the best route to follow.

    According to SSRC's site it should support XP and Win2k. Obviously, the ability to run a DOS prompt helps, because you can see exactly what the error is. However, converting to wav may solve matters, and if not there are other methods of resampling, such as Cooledit or Soundforge (and even Virtualdub).

    If you are not running NTFS you could boot from a Win98 startup disc. To resample the audio is simple provided you know how to navigate to the target directory, and have already placed a copy of SSRC there.

    ssrc --rate 44100 input.wav output.wav
