I'm using VirtualDub to capture. I have a VisionTek Xtasy Everything. I'm using Hi-8 as a source.
In VirtualDub, I'm finding that as I capture different clips, they come out sometimes with the bottom field first (expected) and sometimes with the top field first (unexpected). I'm using Huffyuv 2.1.1, capturing at 720x480.
I check the field order by using a method previously posted in these forums (going to TMPGEnc, going to deinterlace, select Even-Odd field and "scrolling" through the clip watching for frames jumping back and forth).
Is there a way in VirtualDub to force the capture card to capture the bottom field first? Does anyone know why the field order would switch when capturing successive clips from the same source/tape?

If I just deinterlace all the AVIs then there will be no more fields and the problem is solved right?
