  1. I created a vcd with 12 chapter points but when i go to build it 3 of the chapters can't be created where i want them to be, they are instead put 6-8 seconds behind the time i put down. I've used mpegsequence maker and this didn't help can i put my mpeg through this again or will it mess up my mpeg?

    Any help would be great.
    Cheers.

  2. You can only put mpeg sequence headers before a GOP. Running it through the mpeg sequence maker won't ruin your MPEG, but it won't do anything for it either.

Did you use TMPGEnc to encode? Did you set it to close all gops and restrict I-frame placement? If you don't, TMPGEnc won't create regular 0.5s (approx) interval GOPs and this can lead to the probably you have now.

Actually, someone mentioned that they had this problem once before even when they used the above setting so it may just be a problem with TMPGEnc.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can fix this without re-encoding your MPEG.

You can use the option "relaxed aps" in VCDImager but this won't work in all stand-alone players.

You could try this : remux it using bbMpeg. Sometimes it helps but not guaranteed..

It's not a big deal to recompress an existing MPeG (1 or 2) if necessary.
    Do this :
Open the MPeG using VDub and save back to an AVI (if necessary using a CODEC for the size). You must set in the menu 'Video' the menu-option 'Full Recompress' or it won't work.
Now you can re-encode the avi in TMPEGenc, best you use one of the templates for VCD or SVCD that suites most to your rate of the avi (ntsc or pal/secam).

For best results, set the GOP settings to 1-3-2-1. This will create an I-frame after each 3 P-frames (using 2 B-frames), so around each 12frames (if no scene-changes occures, if it does an I-frame will be create more often). For PAL (which is 25frames per second) this would lead to such an I-frame each half second.
