  1. Hi, I just got a weird WinDVD/WMP related playback problem with my fresh from the oven mpeg file (DVD PAL, TMPGEnc)

The problem is this, when I open the file using normal Windows Media Player 6.xx (utilizing the WinDVD codec since I don't have any other mpeg2 codec installed), the video plays about 1-2 seconds, and then it freezes, but the audio is still playing fine. But when I play it using the real software (WinDVD) it plays fine both the video and audio!

anyone got the same problem? is that a WMP & WinDVD codec bug thing or the encoded file is faulty? I use TMPGEnc 2.59 and using the DVD PAL template and FYI the mpg is accepted with Ulead DVD Workshop 1.3 as a DVD PAL compliant file.

  2. I would guess that this is just a quirck of WMP and that, unless you want to install another MPEG2 codec, that there is nothing you can do about it. Is there a reason you need to use the Windows Player? I would suggest just using WinDVD for playback, or if you need something that works well with TV outputs (such as myself) I would suggest something like Zoom Player 3, which is free and feature-rich.

    Hope this helps,

    Prospero

  3. Hi,

I've the same issue between WinDVD & PowerDVD.
The first one works fine... the second freezes the authored DVD files (or mpegs too)...
After burning I've tried the DVD on my Home Player (Samsung) and.... same issue as PowerDVD shows!

My conclusion: Use PowerDVD to test your files before burning.....!

    Best,

    Marco
