  1. I was working on my review fir ShowBiz and on their web site they mentioned somthing called "Smart Rendering". What it means is if you import mpeg-2 that is same format as your otput file, they will not re-encode it. It works fine for files that were produced by ShowBiz but not by my capture card or for example Pinnacle Studo 8. Does anybody know why ?

The only difference that I see when looking on properties in VideoStudio6 is that from my capture card media type is

    "MPEG-2 NTSC, Field B"

and from ShowBiz it is just

    "MPEG-2 NTSC"

all the other properties are same.

  4. I just tested Showbiz and it will smart render a VCD file, but when I tried several MPEG-2 files it rendered them all.
I guess it isn't so smart after all.

  5. It is smart only when mpeg2 was produced by ShowBiz.... Maybe some kind of self-protection so you won't use encoder from other company

How can you tell if it is/is not re-rendering? So if I add a bunch of clips made in Showbiz that are mpeg2 and add some avi's it will only render the avi's in the movie but not the Mpeg2 parts?

  7. You can see it by speed how that part is processed. Also by message, but I don't remember what it is exactly.... I was testing only 1 mpeg file.

  9. No. ShowBiz is only editing tool. In my case it is part of MyDVD package that came with Sony burner. Follow link below to see what it can do.
