I use Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 to author...it works great. Can I use it and burn a Divx file to DVD-R? I opened it in there and it accepted it...but I don't want to try as DVD-R's are $8 in Canada...and if I can save a little money by getting all of your advice, why not.
So, can I burn a Divx directly to DVD (with chapters etc...)?
Thanks,
Jenny![]()

DVDs use Mpeg2 format. Divx is a version of Mpeg4. The Divx must be converted to Mpeg2 before you can create a DVD video. Some DVD authoring programs will accept files in other formats (AVI usually) and then convert them to Mpeg 2 before they author the DVD. Perhaps Ulead does this. Does Ulead have a burn image file or burn to hard drive option? That way you could check it out without ruining a disc.
I'm sure this site has a guide to Divx to DVD conversion as well.
