rhegedus / Craig Tucker:
Anyone know of a decent BBC emulator.......
I graduated from the Acorn Electron to the Amstrad CPC6128 (which had a built in floppy - now that's power computing!)
If anyone's interested in an emulator for that, try CaPriCe - again loads of the old games available on the web & the great thing is the download's finished before you've let go of the mouse button pretty much!!
I'm not so sure how good the 8-bit machines would have been at video encoding though!
I'm 25 BTW
cheers,
mcdruid. -
bertmartin,
I'm not cuttin' your 'puter. I started playin' with this video stuff, VHS to CD, on my AMD 350. Worked fairly well.
I wish I could build a new machine every couple years. I keep buying newer when the price gets below " that's ridiculous" on CPUs. I stick to AMD, and when I get itchy, and a few hundred meg jump gets below a 100 bucks, I'll jump.
Course, I've got enough family, grands, etc, to foist off my year or so old "antiques" to. That's what keeps me feeling younger than my years.
That, and building them furniture, fixing the plumbing, the furnace, the wiring... Yoi, I'm gettin' tired. Time for a snooze.

I'm 69 and a bit, appear to be the oldest so far, and have picked up numerous tips from this site. ( Started ripping at the age of 68 )
Putting all that advice together, I now produce good quality SVCD's,
that are almost as good to watch as the original DVD's.
When liteOn bring thier DVD Writer onto the market shortly, I shall be in there boots and all.
Having been around for Sooooooooooo long, I've lived to learn from so
many other peoples mistakes, cockup's, and advice.
Have a Nice day! -

Hey,
I am 36 and living in San Diego. Just another cool sunny day in the 70's.
Gotta love it!!!It's not that I don't understand, it's just that I don't care!!! -
Looks like I'm not as old as I thought, but I think young. 46 now, 47 in a couple months. Been with video since home video started (Betamax) and computers since the old 8008 days. Really started though with the Atari ST that I won in a contest. Never let up with either hobby in the past almost 20 years. The "kids" here think I'm al old fart though, hence my online name...

42 here,
I started with an 8080 system with 4mb of ram and text only display. Loaded programs from cassette
Printed programs on a teletype.
Monitor was a cheap B&W television.
However, it did have a nice walnut enclosure! -
Age may not matter. 8)
I am old enough to be on the forums and watch porn.
The older I get, the older old is!
Any comment or questions on this? -
Nice to see some folks still with some old stuff! I'm 31 and own the following "old stuff:"
Atari 400
Atari 800
Commodore VIC-20 (with modem)
Radio shack TRS-80
And that doesn't count the "gaming systems" Ah, the simpler times.... -
28.
Started w/ Commodore VIC-20 and Commodore 64 back in da day.
Never interested in programming aspect of computers, but audio/video editing/authoring/etc. facinates me! I also forked out $328.90 (back in 1995?) for an "open box" Panasonic DVD-A100 DVD player at Best Buy. (when the "cheapo's" retailed for $599). I was pretty certain the format would take off, mainly b/c of the size of the disk and excellent video/audio quality.
Now, if I could only find a way to make money doing this stuff. ....and legally, I mean . I know, this topic is covered in another thread...
