    Like the subject says, is there an AC3 codec?

    Try the Moonlight Odio Dekoda, Universal AC-3/MPEG Audio (Layer 1/2/3) Decoder - it is described in KingJohn's Guide for Codecs on the main page

    Nope. Truthfully there is no AC3 Codec. Only decoders. And seperate encoders (I use BeSweet).

    I was only wondering that if you encoded divx files with an AC3 2 channel audio you might be able to lower the audio bitrate as I belive that AC3 is a better compressor than MP3

    If your gonna use AC3, its gonna be because you want surround sound. AC3 stereo is poitless.
