My Pioneer DV-505 will play CD-RWs but not CD-Rs. I have looked at the DVD compatibility list on this site and it does state it supports CDRs. I then read through my DVD owners manual and states it does support VCD, however; in the foot notes it gives examples of discs that the player does not support "DVD-R,DVD-ROMs,CD-Rs, ect". Now I am confused, why would they say it supports VCDs then say it does not support CDRs? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

VCD is just the format. (e.g., CD-ROM, audio CD, etc.)
CD-R is the media type.
VCD compatibility does not equal CD-R compatibility.
