  2. You should be able to, I got the radeon 64 vivo and it caps VCD just fine. I Can almost cap to SVCD, but my computers a tad to slow p2 333. Can't wait to upgrade. Should work on faster computers. Cap your audio from the VHS audio outputs into your sound card Line-In the same time you cap the video. Hope this helps.

I have a ATI Radeon 64mb DDR ViVo and for the price I paid (£25 brand new) it has to be my best buy ever.
I capture both digital tv and camcorder footage at full res 720 x 573 for dvd output (the audio recording is via the line-in socket of your sound card - you just select the audio source when setting up your ATI card).
I have a relatively decent system now though, although I was getting good resulsts with a Duron 800 before I upgraded.
Don't hesistate to post back if you get stuck - but I suggest you read the guides under 'capturing' (to the left of your screen) first, you need to master that *before* you can go onto vcd/svcd output.

Make sure you go to your soundmixer(sound card software) and make sure that line in is activated, else no sound. VIVO does a good job for me, and when I was a newbie I did not know about line in.

  5. is there need to be some wires connect to my sound card inside my computer?

  6. No you don't need any wires inside your computer that hook up to your soundcard.

Just plug the Video out (yellow RCA Plug) into your Radeon VideoIN plug and get a cable that has a male headphone style plug on one end and two (one RED and one White) RCA style plugs on the other end.

the Headphone style plug of the cable goes into the Line-IN on your soundcard and the Two red and white pugs go to the Audeo out RCA plugs on your VCR. It's all usually colourcoded on the back of the VCR.

  7. nope, you don't have to hook up the wires inside your computer, just use an audio/video wire and hook up the inputs into the back of the computer. You might have to use the thing (left/right/audio converter) to fit into the sound card Line-In which should come with the card.

  8. just installed a 64mb radeon vivo (I'm guessing it's the 7000 model?), got it off ebay. I've had a similiar problem when I used to use the VE capture card by ati. When I go above 320x200 resolution, I start getting the jagged lines in the video. What causes this? My system:
    ati radeon VIVO
    256mb SDRAM (not DDR)
    ASUS A7V mboard
    duron 850
    5400 rpm ibm drive (9ms)

I know it's not the hard drive because it's not hurting (light still blinks), My machine should be fast enough right? I downloaded the latest drivers from ati, and I'm using virtual dub to capture. Using divx or not divx as a codec doesn't seem to affect it at all (other than a huge reduction in file size). Any ideas? email me at: toyotaboy@iwic.net
