What is the best Capture program for an ATI TV Wonder PCI besides the ATI Software. I want to capture in 640 X 480 at 30 frames per second without ghosting artifacts.

  2. If you're using WDM drivers, use VirtualVCR. If you're using VFW drivers, then use Virtualdub. If you don't know what drivers you're using, you most likely are using WDM drivers.

  3. The ghosting artifacts aren't created by the software. What source are you capturing from? Have you deinterlaced before you see those ghosting artifacts? Also, what input are you using? (composite, s-video, coax?)

I stick to VirtualVCR/mjpeg codec (capturing at 720x480), then frameserve it with avisynth, then encode it Works for me

I have that TV wonder and it works great

oh. you might want to try the soourceforge drivers for it too.

  4. If your video is poor after capture, you're most likly using a low quality encoder. Use MJPEG at 90% quality or higher. All the other "default" encoders are of very low quality. You can also use a DV codec and capture at 720x480 (only). In any way, you will have to spend at least $20 for a good codec (unless you can get it from someone else).

  5. Unless say, he's capturing and old VHS tape thru the coax input, or something like that It just won't look good... mjpeg wise, I wouldn't go below 95%.

I am using the BTWinCap drivers v5.3.5. I don't know if they are WDM or VFW

My TV Card is a ATI TV Wonder and I refuse to use the ATI Software =)

  7. I guess those are generic WDM drivers...

  8. I have an ATI TV Wonder PCI card and I have tried just about EVERY capture program out there and the one I LOVE the best is iuVCR.

It will allow you to cap and ANY resolution and you can schedule it, and you can also set filesize fragments. ( I have a 100GB Hdd so capturing full uncompressed is no problem), although I have been using the Huffy Codec and been cappin 2.5hr movies right from cableTV then turning them into Divx. my email is jcrandall@osdchi.com if you need any further info on using your ATI TV Wonder card!!
