  1. im trying to encode some video i captured into mpeg2 so i can put it on dvd. I captured it on my desktop machine then transfered the files onto my laptop since my desktop machine randomly inserts green flashes into any mpeg2 video i try to encode on it. I encoded the files on my laptop but the output doesnt look right- there arent any flashes/glitches but the edges seem a lot more jagged/line-y and the video does this weird flickering when viewed on a TV. if i pause it though, the picture seems to be ok but when i start playing it again it looks screwed up (it only does that on a tv though, not my pc). I used the exact same programs, the same 9mb CBR bitrate, and EXACT same settings (i triple checked) on both machines (adobe premiere 6 with CCE 2.64 plugin), but the video i encode on my desktop machine looks perfect except for the green flashes. any ideas on on whats wrong with my laptop? heres a pic to help show the difference between the two- http://www.oregontrail.net/~nirvana/enc.jpg (the one on top is encoded on the desktop, the bottom one on the laptop). i would be extremely greatful for any and all help.

btw- my desktop machine is a P3 667mhz with win98se and the laptop is a brand new Dell Inspiron 2650 with windows XP home edition. also, im not sure if it matters but i tried unchecking the "upper field first" option and the output looked no different. i also tried installing the nimo codec pack 5.0 version 8 and it made no difference
