I am using Premiere to get DV from my camcorder to an AVI, but it is the kind that Virtualdub won't open, and although I can convert it w/ canopus, I would rather just use some other program which will create the original in Type 2.

    What software does this?

Can it be captured with Vdub itself?

You can use Mainconcept's trial dv codec to allow virtualdub to open dv files. I capture with MS MovieMaker then edit/filter/frameserve with virtualdub. Mainconcept's trial version will produce a watermark if you encode but not if you decode.
