  1. When I use TV-Out with my laptop, theres a black boarder on the left side of the screen. How do you get rid of this and fix it so that it's in full screen? My laptop uses a Neomagic 256 something card

Since TV and Monitor displays are different resolutions you can't get all the screen on the TV , or if you do get all the PC /LCD creen, you have black borders to compensate. It's better than stretching the image to fit the TV.

Some questions first as I am not familiar with Neomagic..
What resolution are u using on the laptop? What max resolution does the Neomagic take? Neomagic is an external scan converter? If so the later scan converters have screen positioning and overscan functions that eliminate the borders...BUT...you do not see the whole picture .

    Get the picture?

If you realy insist of getting rid of any border, like your movie will be played on computers only (eg. the web), then use TMPEGenc and in the tab 'Advanced' check the option 'Clip Frame'.
Now, first you click the button 'Arrange Setting' and select 'No Margin (keep aspect ratio)' in the combobox near the text 'Arrange Method'.
Then go back by clicking the button 'Clip frame setting'.
Do not check the '... mask' checkboxes, but only check the checkbox 'Resized image is use to display preview'.
Now change the 'top', 'left', 'right' and 'bottom' so you won't see any border at all.
Keep in mind, doing so will get strange results and it is quiet possible there remains borders (if you select 16:9 as input), instead you could have weird sizes or loss of picture if you selected 'full screen' under "Arrange Setting".

  4. From my experience some cards with TV out always produce small borders on the sides, doesn´t matter how the movie looks in the PC, even the desktop will have borders on the sides.
As far as I know there´s nothing you can do about it other than buying a new card.

  6. Neomagic are mobile video cards for laptops. My laptop is displayed at 1027x768 and when i use tv-out i have to set it at 640x480. I got a desktop with an ati rage fury pro card and it doesnt have any blackboarders. it plays it beautifully on tv-out

I will check out Neomagic since I had not heard of video cards for laptops ( except for Zoom Video on Toshibas). Tview sells PCIMIA (?) scan converter cards for notebooks. In normal scan converters the TV out images can be adjusted to normal ( full screen of the PC ) or overscan ( filling the TV screen ). Overscan cuts out some of the image on the PC and fullscreen has black borders. So I suppose the Neomagic doesn't offer these optons. But neither do older scan converters.

  8. ever heard of TV Tool. it allows a 720 horizontal resolution, the same as a comercial dvd. it will eliminate black borders when exporting to a tv/vcr. however, it may cut off too much if youre that picky.

it doesnt want to work for me cause i have a twinview enabled card. ive read posts but i still cant do it. some lemme know if they have coquered this problem. thx.
