  1. I have a DivX AVI file with two audio tracks, but when I try to convert it to a SVCD disk I get both audio tracks in a mix - which doesn't sound good.
How do I extract one of the two audio tracks, so I later on can merge it back with the video stream to a new DivX AVI file with only the one audio track I want as part of my SVCD?

    Use Graphedit

open the video file, File--->render media file

And the 2 seperate audio tracks will be clearly visable delete all the filter boxes of the track you dont want ( after AVI splitter) and the video filter boxes

Then delete Default sound device ( on the end of the track you want to keep ) and add the filters Direct show filters :-

Wav destination ---->file writer ( save to where you want ) after the morgan stream switcher

And then Graph----> play and away you go, you have a single audio stream for multiplexing

It sounds a bit complicated but when you get the program and run it you will see what i mean its real easy

    hope this helps

  9. Another (easier?) way to do it would have been using nandub I guess.

Ive never used nandub before it looks very similar to virtual Dub, I just got hold of a copy of the latest version.

But i don't see how you can split a dual audio stream.

    Faceman, Crahak ?

  12. Audio - Secondary Stream - Direct Stream copy

That is if you want the 2nd stream. If so, then set the first (under Audio) to no audio. Then save as WAV.

Let us know if it worked.

  13. Hi
Thanks for all the help. I think I have a pretty good idea of how to do it now, but GraphEdt keeps crashing on me when trying to add filters.

I have tried on another PC so I know how it should work, but that PC is not available to me anymore.

I'm currently running XP (without SP1). Even with GraphEdt from the new DirectX9 SDK it is doing exactly the same. It crashes as soon as I try to add a filter or right-click on an object i GraphEdt.

Any ideas for problem solving or good sites with forums for this?

    hi there!

does that work with two ac3 streams in a divx file too? cause i have two ac3 streams in my divx and want to convert it to dualaudio svcd.

any ideas if graphedit takes ac3 and how it might be possible to get both in one svcd?

    thanx.

You have 2 distinct AC3 streams in one DivX? I'm surprised there is any space left for the video. I presume you don't mean 2 channels - ie stereo?

i do mean two ac3 channels (dualaudio) and one divx video stream.

    its the file
    "Shaft-CD1-[MoonAge-AC3-2000-DualAudio.English.Deutsch].avi"
which can be played with the bsplayer and definately has two audio streams.

    any ideas?

oh, i just tried nandub. with nandub its only possible to extract the first audio stream. the second one will not work if the first one is tagged with "no audio".

Graphedit is what you should try next. Provided you can play AC3 then it should work.

What do you get when you try to render a file (CRTL + R) before attempting to add any filters?

you must link the morgan stream switcher to a wav destination first then to the file writer

    to banjazzer:
ctrl-r doesn't work at all - nothing happens. plus there isn't any menu option that says "render a file", only "render media file" and that one just wants to open an existing avi file or something like it.

    to smurfpacker:
where do i find a wav destination, in the filters i couldn't tell which one was a wav destination. please describe

    thanx.

The file you want to *render* is a media file. And you said you had a DivX, which is your *avi*. CTRL + R is the same as File >Render Media File, which is how you load your target file into Graphedit.

In the DirectShow Filters under the confusing name Wav Dest. I think it would be useful if you looked through some of the guides on this site which describe how to use Graphedit.

thanks for the answer. as you might have guessed, i've already loaded my avi file. i have one video and two audio streams, i deleted the video stuff and the default directsound device output. but there isn't any directshow filter like "wav dest" or "wave destination" or anything like that.

    ok.

just noticed that i had an older version of graphedit, which explains why the shortcut ctrl-r and the blue-box-buttons weren't available.

(thats because the download link on this site/digital-digest didn't work)

but even with the newer version there isn't any wav dest filter. i only found a file in the graphedit folder: "Wavdest.ax", which couldn't be opened with graphedit, though. could that be of any help?

did you all download the directx sdk from microsoft.com - do i have to dl that (200MB+) ?

    thanx.

  27. There is an inofficial pack of VirtualDub at www.doom9.org that should be able to extract both audio streams of an avi file (no matter if it is wav, mp3 or ac3) just fine .

For some reason you appear to be missing the wav dest directshow filter. The directshow filters available to Graphedit are the ones registered on your system, so each filter is not necessarily connected with Graphedit.

    but....

The entry for wav dest in my directshow filters shows:

    DisplayName: @devicew:{083863F1-<snipped!>- 4B99}
    Filename: D:\VIDEO\GRAPHEDIT\WAVDEST.AX
    Merit: 00200000
    Version: 2

and there is an entry in my registry for wavdest.ax.
So it looks like it installed with Graphedit.
