  1. I have been searching these forums for a couple of weeks looking for information on the best value media available for the DRU-500A in the UK, but most information is US based.

Basically I'm looking for reliable DVD-R discs for burning backup DVD Movies.

I have only tried Mirror Platinum from Statples Store (UK), they are actually Vivastar discs and they are useless, 2x burns give a write error or they will not play back in my DVD player, 1x burn seemed to work OK.

I have no problems ordering online, I only got the Mirror Discs as my writer turned up yesterday after 2 months wait. The only thing that concerns me is cheap brand or unbranded discs may be unreliable due to varying source suppliers.

The best price I've seen for major brand discs is £1.99 a disc for Verbatim x2 DVD-R ( http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/cgi-bin2/cdrmedia/details.pl?id=vdvd15 ), although I am awaiting confirmation that these discs are the newer DRU-500A compatible stock, but really £1.99 a disc is a bit expensive mind.

Thanks in advance for any comments or recommendations...

  2. Try the Traxdata disks also from CD-RMedia.co.uk, they seem to be highly rated by quite a few people. I've just ordered 30 to try them out myself.
