I need an urgent help since all the movies I have backed up some far with the following methods do not play on a standalone player but on PC that's fine
For info, this happens ONLY AND ONLY if the movie title set has more than 1 PGC and I want to keep everything on the DVD (that's my conclusion but I might be wrong)
Allright let's start the procedure:
- rip the dvd with dvd decrypter (rip all the DVD)
- use IFOEdit to strip audio and unwanted subtitles
- use DV2AVI to frameserve and then VAF converter to convert into a format CCE can read
- use Chapter Extractor to extract the chapter points and then edit the ECL (CCE file) to add at the end of the file the chapter points
- use subrip for the subtitles and save them as scenarist format
- set up the parameters in CCE for multipass VBR (3 passes) and reencode the file
- once everything is over, start scenarist and create a project for one title set
- import the chapter point using ScenChap
- import the m2v file, the AC3 file generated by DV2AVI
- generate the VOB files. VIDEO_TS and VTS_01_xx
- Use IFOUpdate to update the original IFO file. At this point in time, the new authored DVD has 1 PGC and the original still 3
- Once IFOUpdate has finsihed, the original IFO still has 3 PGC and I guess the chapter points have been corrected
- Use IFOEdit to Get VTS sector and region free
- burn the DVD with either Nero or RecordMax
now this is where I am completely lost.
I load VIDEO_TS in powerDVD and it plays fine. It starts with usual warnings (FBI stuff) the movie company logo then "branch" to the video intro then the menus.
When I insert the DVD in a standalone player, it plays the warnings, the company logo then it stops while trying to access the video intro before the menus
I folllowed the same procedure for another movie (Thin Red Line which has only 1 PGC and it worked fine on both the player and computer
The difference being that once the DVD is inserted in the standalone player or played via power DVD, it jumps straight away to the menu.
There is no such warning, video demo or company logo
I am suspecting the fact that it does not work because it is a multiple PGCs but I might be wrong
So if anybody out there could help me, I would really appreciate

you need to demux each pgc seperatley. dvd decryptor iso setting, stream stripping and highlight the PGC to strip. enable stream stripping and right click on video. set to demux all
re-encode your m2v file with cce as normal
this is now the tricky part.
you have to re-build your vob in scenarist (only) import assets and in track editor choose add PGC. then drop each sperate file (video+audio) onto the PGC. import chapters and subs. when you build you will now have one vob with three PGC points. ifoupdate as normal. play perfectly -
I use Smartripper, in movie mode it will usually sort out the PGCs/angles for you. The same chapter points should still be valid, the soundtracks & subtitles can be extracted from the vobs. Author in Ifoedit 0.95.
