I played arond today with my Pinnacle PCtv Pro card.
Captured to avi then converted into mpeg in Tmpgenc.
And I noticed that in Virtual VCR i couldent get over 320x240, but i still captured and converted into mpg. then I found out that Ive got sync errors.
Then I went back to Virtualdub and captured into uncompressed avi to improve the image (I thought?)
But look for u self maby I done something wrong or Mjpeg is better than uncompressed avi.
This Problem was still after I converted into mpg with this tempalate "TIbrO VideoCD (PAL).mcf" from tools section.
320x240 mjpeg quality 18 I recorded in Virtual VCR

352x288 uncompressed yuv2 I recorded in Virtualdub
http://m1.314.telia.com/~u31415258/mpg/uncompressed.bmp
The Uncompressed avi looks like DivX or such.
One more thing thats bother me is when its an dark scene either an black jacket or inside an cave Ive get gray pixels over the dark area.

Looking at these two pics
I'd say your capturing uncompressed in only 16bit colour
While the MJPEG is capped in 24Bit
Try the test again after setting the uncompressed to 24/32bit colour
