    Hi people,

I have the same error message as a lot of you others have out there when I try and start to encode a captured clip with TMPG, "error occured when ACM was initialized". The odd thing is some capured clips will encode but some won't...believe it or not!

I have tried everything from checking to make sure that I have all the codecs installed by running the videos to checking for bad frames.

I am running TooLame as an audio encoder.

The only thing I can think of is removing codecs that one gentleman suggested that aren't used. But I wouldn't know where to start there. What I thinking of doing was reformatting my drive (which needs to be done anyway) which will delete everything that is there that shouldn't be which could be causing me my problem.

I was hoping one of you people out there can help a frustrated guy out. Thanks. -COLIN.

What is the audio in the original clip ?

Test your system see if you have something missing.

Make sure the priorities of the DirectShow filter are high enough

    TMPGEnc
Option > Environmental setting > VFAPI plug-in > DirectShow Multimedia file reader
Right click select higher priority, do several times until its at the top with a value of 4, or just below any Mpeg 2 filter. You may need to adjust again when converting other types.

  3. What a shocker to see this message posted, as I've had this problem all day! Mine is a brand new hard-drive (mine crashed earlier this week) and I've been very cautious as to what codecs I'm installing this time. Anyway, changed the priority of DirectShow Multimedia file reader as shown and it works!

Thanks so much for the great advice, as I was totally lost

    Hi Dobie,

Can you please list for me the list of files under the VFAPI folder and what priority you gave them, it would help me out a lot. Have you tried playing all those sample videos that King John gave a link too? Do they all work on your system? Do you have a secondary audio encoder like TooLame installed? Thanks for all your help. -COLIN.

    Hey people,

I FINALLY GOT IT!!! What I did was went into Control Panel and found my audio codecs and all of them were disabled for some reason, so I enabled them and now I can encode ALL of my videos instead of some of them. Thanks KJ and Dobie for your tips and help. -COLIN.

Try editing my test files, sometimes playing them will not reveal a fault.
