I plan on using my Sony videocamera to transfer "priceless" VHS tapes to DVD, connectiong the VCR video and audio to pass-through the camera. I then want to use TMPgenc to reduce the AVI into MPEG-2.
My question is, should I capture (using Windows) at the 25Mbps rate, or would it make little difference in quality using 8.0Mbps (which is what my Radeon 7500 indicates as being "DVD quality" for the video card capture) prior to conversion ot MPEG-2? I have the hard drive space, and I want the best quality possible, but I don't know if I should bother working with such a large file size.
Any feedback is appreciated!
