problems with converted svcd's stuttering

Hi, ive recently encoded a few films from avi/divx to svcd & vcd and i have the problem that once ive burnt them to cd they stutter every few seconds on playback, this does not occur when the encoded file is being played from the hard drive, any ideas?

also i would appreciate it if someone could tello me what settings my tmpg encoder should have to encode both vcds' and svcd's.

what encoder and burn program are you using?

i used tmpg encoder and nero althought ive tried vcd easy and fireburner with the same results.
