I have "Very Bad Things" on DVD here, containing 2 German tracks and 1 English track. It doesn't fit on one DVDR, so I thought of leaving out the 2 German tracks so it would fit on a single DVDR.
I used Smartripper en DVD Decrypter to rip the Video and English audio, gives me a 4GB dump, which fits nicely on a DVDR.

For both streams, English audio and Video, I selected "Direct Stream Copy" instead of "Demux".

But, why don't I hear audio when I play the vobs?

Is it necessary to Demux video and audio into 2 seperate files first?
What's the purpose of Direct Stream Copy for audio when you can't hear it?

Could someone tell me what I am missing here or what I should do or know?

How are you playing the vob's? PowerDVD for example when in DVD from HD mode will only play the audio if it's the first audio stream on the DVD. If the English audio was the 3rd.audio stream you won't hear any sound but it will be there.

I got it fixed. Yes, it'll look at the first audio track.
For ripping I remapped the 3rd track (English audio) to the location of the 1st track (German audio).

On your HD you'll get the vobs with video and only English audio (as selected). The vobs will play with English audio now.
All you need to to do afterwards is to rewrite the ifo-files and burn it.
