  1. Hi all!

I'm trying to split a "Band of Brothers" DVD9 into 2 discs using IFOEdit. And I'm having trouble picking the split point in IFOEdit.

I ripped using the file mode of DVDDecrypter. So I only have the .IFO and .VOBs in my dir. Then, I open IFOEdit and select "Split to 2 DVD-Rs".

In the "VOB Extras Options" screen I all default value (split to 2 dvd-Rs, create dirs, etc) but change the VOB size to 1GB. I click OK to go to the "Stream List" screen.

Here I highlight the point where I want the DVD to split (the row before PGC_2 in my case):

    "[Ch 07][PG 07][Cell 07] :time...."

    Then I hit split.

The result: IFOEdit put everything into the Disc1 dir. Disc2 dir contains nothing except an .IFO file.

I have been successful with other DVD9s before. This particular DVD that I'm working on has 2 PGCs. Does that make a difference?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From my experience with LOTR the PGC's don't make any difference - therefore you need to set the split by CHAPTER. ie If the movie has 10 chapters - then you can cut the movie in 'chapter' half by just selecting split at chapter (PGC1). If there are 8 VOBS @ 1Gbyte each - then in theory, each disc will now only have 4 vobs (approximately 4 Gbyte) allowing you to burn it onto DVD-R. If you want to 'fill' the first disc but have room on the 2nd (for extra's or whatever) then you'll have to split it nearer the end of the film. (of couse all this depends on how long the chapters are...!)

There's probably a more scientific way to calculate this but this way worked for me ...!

  3. Yes, I'd like to pick a chapter half way through the movie.

There are 14 chapters on the Disc. I highlighted "Ch 07" in the "Stream List" screen, then clicked "OK." But in the end, all the VOBs went into the "Disc1" folder... No VOB in the "Disc2" folder.

How do you pick the split point in the "Stream List" screen? I just highlight the "[ch 07]" chapter and click OK. Is there another trick?

Any thoughts? Is this a bug in IFOEdit? Or am I missing something?

    any help is greatly appreciated!

    in short :-

    Ifoedit (0.95)
    Vob extra's
    tick -
    strip streams
    correct vob...
    correct IFO...
    Split 2 DVD-R's
    Create subfolders - disc 1 & 2 (*)

(*) optional - if you don't tick this then you MUST put a second subdirectory in manually - othewise it dumps all the vobs into 1 dir (possibly where you are going wrong..)

select the stream(s), chapter split point and away you go ...

    Good Luck.
