Hello, I was converting some AVI files to MPEG to put on a VCD. In the past, I converted them using (somewhat) low quality. I asked for some higher quality settings in TMPGEnc on another forum and so I used these:

    Stream Type: MPEG-1 Video
    Size: 352x240 pixels.
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 525 line (NTSC)
    Frame rate: 29.97 fps
    Rate Control Mode: Constant Quality
    -Quality: 80
    -Max. Bitrate: 3000
    -Min. Bitrate: 300
    VBV Buffer Size: 112
Motion Search Precision: High quality (slow)
    Video Source Type: Non-interlace (progressive)
Field Order: Top Field First (Field A)
    Source Aspect Ratio: 1:1 (VGA)
Video Arrange Method: Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)
Stream Type: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II
    Sampling Frequency: 44100Hz
    Channel Mode: Stereo
    Bitrate: 128

You might want to know that the source file has 48000Hz and when I burned them onto VCD using Nero 5, the VCD has sound problems. The audio keeps on breaking up and pausing. I then selected a small video clip for converting in TMPGEnc using a maximum bitrate of 2520. But the audio problems are still there.

  2. I'm not too sure about this because you seem to have created an XVCD (bitrate != 1150), but I think the audio bitrate has to be 224 kbps all the same.

It could be your field order or that you're creating a XVCD.

Um...actually, I tried lowering the VBV Buffer from 112 back to 40 and it worked! I wonder why is this?
