Im trying to extract the audio from an AVI i just downloaded in VirtualDub but when i load the file i get an error saying "Improper VBR audio encoding..." Is there any way I can fix this or use another program that will extract the audio so i can use it later when i encode the film into mpg format with TMPGEnc?

Thanks for the link. I tried what it said but when i try and save the WAV file i get this error.

"The requested audio compression is not capatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and the channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

    Any idea?

    sorry my english

I use VirtualDub and extract the audio (AC3) in to a file...

After, i use AC3Tool, and convert to PCM (about a 1GB file result)...
When AC3Tool can't deal with the file, i use Wimamp, using Disk Write, and he can deal with the conversion (it's a trick i think )

Now, in virtualDub, i use the DIVX ou XIVD and for audio, the Wav i create, and Framserving to TMPGEnc...

I use also the Subtitle filter, in VirtualDub...

And everything works great... TMPGEnc, can deal with the job...

When i discovered AC3Tool, i'm happy, but after, a lot of movies give me errors in AC3Tool, but i have a good ideia, and think in wimamp... Great...

Well I encoded the movie without using the ac3 audio link you gave.

I did it the way I always have using full processing mode in VirtualDub and encoding with TMPGEnc. The end mpg seems to be fine, the audio and video are in sync.

Should I redue the audio using the steps in th ac3 audio link you gave me? What is ac3 audio anyways?

  9. If its in sync then there is no need to mess around with it. AC3 is another term for dolby digital.

I forgot to ask but is AC3 that much better? I only have a Pro Logic amp.

  12. AC3 or dolby digital is 5.1 channels, front left, front right, centre, rear left, rear right, and sub. Pro logic is just 4 channels, front left, front right, centre and rear. So yes DD or AC3 is better than pro logic.

Hmm.. maybe I should redue it then, do you think I would notice a diffrence since I only have a Pro Logic amp?

  14. Sorry what I posted before was a bit misleading, ac3 or DD is typically 5.1 channels. Bit in your case it was 2 channels. You can have 2 channel DD
