  1. Ive been making vcds for quite some time now and until i got my dvd writer ive had no problems. I read these pages religiously every week and i know that this question has come up a thousand times so for all you poor people who answer this problem week in and week out, hats off to you. Anyway im tring to eventually put an avi file on dvd which i know i need to encode first but when i try and load up the avi file it says "FILE UNSUPPORTED". I have quite a few codecs and have fiddled with the enviromental setting and still no joy. Anyone who can explain what i have to do to get it working is tuly a great being.

    Cheers for reading this!!!

    p.s help!

    Do you have Nimo Pack?

  3. i've read your post

    had the same problem
try this: check your video codec -> if the avi is divx 5.0 encoded, tmpgenc cannot read this, you have to encode the avi in something else (i encode it in mpeg-4 with virtual dub) then it shoul work

hope this will help you out

    this is not required.

First make sure all codecs are installed. If it still doesnt work change the directshow reader priority in the environmental settings of tmpgenc. Try having your setting similar to this
    DirectShow Multimedia File Reader.......3
    AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader................1
    AVI VFW compatibility Reader.............0
    CyberLink MPEG-2 Decoder.................0
    Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder.................0
    Wave File Reader..............................0
    BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader...........-2
    DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.76+.....-2
    TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.58......-2

Will it load into Vdub File > File info ?

Test your system see if you have anything missing
