  1. I was wondering if the speed you can burn a DVD at has anything to do with the quality. For example. WOuld a 4x disk be any better quality than a 2x or 1x disk made by the same company? Or would burning a 4x disk at 2x speed get better results than a 2x disk burned at 2x, or 1x.

  2. I don't think so. Just makes the job done faster. Alot faster. But one quetion I do have is, if a cd is burned at a certain speed, lets say 50x, does it have to be played back at 50x? Or can it be played back at any speed (1x).

    Yes, any speed.
If you have a dvdr and you played it a 50x let's just say it would be over rather quickly.
We don't all have 50x burners (personally I wouldn't want to burn at that speed) and anyone with a 24x would soon find themselves making useless coaters for anyone other than themselves.

No bearing on quality whatsoever, as the expert quite rightly pointed out, it will simply copy faster.
But having asked that question I guess you're like me and just starting out on dvdr creation, right?
In that case, burn at 1x, you'll have less problems.
