  1. I'm new to this scene and I really want to start making backups of my dvds. I only have Windows ME so I cant use DVDXCOPY. But I want to do the same thing if possible. I want the entire DVD, menus, trailers, deleted scenes etc. I dont want to downsample anything, I want everything untouched. I don't care if I have to put the movie on two dvd's. I would like to know what software I would need to accomplish this. Also if you would, beside the list, write down what each program is for, for instance;
    SmartRipper (For Ripping the VOB files off of DVD's)
    Anyway I would greatly appreciate it. I've looked around on this site but I feel I would understand it more from other people, rather than reading a guide from a pro.

    Thanks!

    These guides are just written by hobbiests like yourself who have gotten familiar with a working process. Don't be intimidated, it looks worse than it really is.

  4. Hey thanks alot! Will this keep all the extras and the menus and stuff? Also it doesnt change the quality does it? If it does everything you just made me a very happy person!

    Thanks A Whole Lot

  5. I have DVDXCOPY. Works great (for me). If you really want to back up entire DVD's to two dvd's. Maybe you should just upgrade to XP. Xp & Xcopy would run about $200. Might be worth it. Cause this stuff is for the dedicated.

    Xplor your options.

    I also have ME and at first I was pissed about not being able to use dvdxcopy, that is until I found the perfect freeware solution!

    First of all, get dvddecrypter, I think you can still get it at www.dvddecrypter.com

    Then get ifoedit version .091 , from that doom link posted above.

    This is the guide I use for single layer dvds

    (note, for some reason I have about 50% sucsess when burning onto the disc w/ dvddecrypter so I use record now software which came with my sony burner and burn it using the data disc function. I assume something like that came with your burner so I would burn it that was as apposed to burning it with dvddecrypter like the guide suggests)

    this is the guide I use for extracting the movie only from the disc (no menu)

    These guides work well and I have yet to try to split one to two dvds yet.
