  1. Hey,
I dont know a lot about converting video formats and how they affect quality. I am using tmpgEnc to convert avi's to mpeg and leaving all the default settings. The mpeg looks fine on PC, but when i burn it to VCD with Nero, it looks ok on PC but really bad on my PIONEER 344 DVD Player. Very blocky. I have no idea what any of the settings in tmpgenc mean, and what i should change them to, also when i preview the movie in tpmengenc i get no sound, is that normal?
    Thanx in advance

Count me in. I went to Circuit City today and played one of my XVCDs. It was "extremely blocky" on the Pioneer and looked very smooth on the JVC and Apex DVD players.

Somebody else has the same problem with Pioneer DV-344?

I supposed that DV-344 was better than DV-343 because it is a "upgrade version" from it.

It was the "343" and it also did it with their latest progressive scan model too, but I don't know what the number is.
