Have a 700MB divx file and try to convert it to MPEG1 and get a huge 945MB file which i can't fit on one disk

Try with TPMGEnc in the wizard, have seen the option to reencode but this only works for SVCD....in VCD mode this area stays grey...

How do I make this file smaller so that it fits on one VCD????

  2. You need to load the unlock template, so that you can change bitrate settings, also make sure you change the stream type to video CD (non standard). What you will be creating is an XVCD, and with a lower bitrate the quality will suffer. There are templates that are supposed to optimize picture quality/filesize so that you can get a movie on 1 disc, one such type of template can be found at www.kvcd.net , these are though non standard VCD (XVCD) and you may find that your DVD player cant play them.

If you are going to a xvcd then donīt use the newest version of TMPGEnc cause it has a bug in it which will make your MPEG1 bigger than it should be,use instead TMPGEnc 2.58.
You can download it from here if you havenīt it already:

Have you verified that your DVD player will play XVCD's ? it might not..

You may need to split that file into 2 CD's

If you cram it all on 1 disc, its not going to look anywhere near has good as using 2 disks, you could shorten it by getting rid of any credits, trailers etc , next time you might have a file of 1.6Gb !
