This began when I upgraded the firmware to 1.0f ....

From what i have been told when burning you need to disable your screensaver and don't do anything else with your computer since it uses so much of your resources to burn......spsp2

  3. I built a PC just for DVD writing. I use my other systems for gaming or browsing. I do computer repair and many systems I see have 10 million things running on them and other issues. I can only imagine howmany problems people have are due to this.

I have an Athlon 2200 with 512 mb of memory. I haven't noticed a large speed reduction. However I would recommend playing games while burning. What OS are you running? What program are you burning with? I have made DVD+R, DVD-R, cdr and cdrw with mine, no coasters.

I run Win2000 Pro and use both the upgraded software that shipped with the drive and Nero 5.5
