  1. Hi to all....

I was wondering if anybody tried the canopus procoder mpeg2 encoding with 2 pass vbr (in highest quality). I did (with source dv avi pal) and i think it's pretty good. Slow but good (i don't care about speed).

Anybody can compare it? Is there anything better out there? I tried cce 2.50 but it has to much settings for me and it's confusing!!!!

And one last question.... is cbr 8000 better than vbr 8000 ?? If yes then should i use the cbr of ulead dvd workshop instead?? Thank you all in advance and sorry for my poor english!

  2. I have been doing a lot of encodes with this encoder lately. I am using DV as a source and getting stunning results, in my opinion much better than Tmpgenc or any other encoder I have used.

For many of the encodes I used 5000 av 9000 max 720x576. the encodes are excellent, excellent colours, sharp picture, No BLOCKS!!, smooth motion.

    .... is cbr 8000 better than vbr 8000 ??
this all depends at what you set the average to of the VBR?

  3. How much did you pay for Procorder?? TMPG enc is only $50 US, Canopus wants $700.00 US. I would hope that a $700 dollar piece of software would be better than TMPG. I have been looking at the Canopus product but have a hard time justifying that kind of expense for personal use. Does it do AVI/WAV encoding to MPEG-2?

    What do you mean???
You have to author the resulting mpeg before burning.
I use Procoder to encode, TMPGENC DVD Author to author, then Nero 6.302 or Record Now Deluxe 6.5 to burn.
