Great card, but the TV-sound is mono (unless you've got/buy the MTS-version)
But did you have a look at the capture card reviews in the menu on the right -

TV tuner not wuite as good as my old AverMediaTV Studio, that was a great card!AMD 64 X2 6000+ @3,000 Mhz (stock) | MSI K9N Ultra | Corsair Value/Kingston 6,144MB DDR 667 | 8800GT stock | 3710GB of storage | Powered by Mandriva 2009.1

I also read that this card doesn't capture to DivX well because the audio goes out of sync. That means to record to Divx with this card I would capture to avi and then convert, right?
I don't know much about MJPEG but I heard it's the way to go to preserve analog quality. Will this card do MJPEG? Thanks. -
all BT878 cards have no problems with DivX capturing,
out of sync is more hardware and sound card issues,
and all BT878 cards can capture in MJPEG

I have the card too...and have had no problems with it. it works in Vdub as Dave said, and I have no problems capturing to DivX or any other format. My opinion of the TV/FM tuner is good, you can adjust pretty much everything with this card. Now I just need a bigger hard drive

If I use this card in VirtualDub I have to use the WDM to VFW wrapper. But the highest resolution I can get then is *x352. Can somebody get a higher Resolution? If so, how do you do that?
Shun: The retail Box has to have a sticker on the MTS-option.
By the way, if you use Dscaler you can also get Teletext, even if there isn't a sticker on the teletext option on the retailbox. Dscaler gives also the best viewing quality. -
i found DScaler to use 99% CPU usage while it was on and not a very good quality picture
to get a higher res then 352x288 in VD you need to use the BTwincap drivers
i think the address is
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
works wonders then,
i think with the regular drivers you can get higher res in Virtual VCR and iuVCR
give em a try !AMD 64 X2 6000+ @3,000 Mhz (stock) | MSI K9N Ultra | Corsair Value/Kingston 6,144MB DDR 667 | 8800GT stock | 3710GB of storage | Powered by Mandriva 2009.1

Dscaler will use a lot of CPU if you let him do this. You have to tweak some settings. For example:
Deinterlace --JudderTerminator --> set it off
Settings--Advanced Settings--Field Timing Settings--Sleep Interval --> set it to 1
I'm using dscaler with a cpu-usage of about 2% (pentium IV 1.8 Ghz) and the picture quality is way better than the winfast application
Also I've tried the BTwincap driver but I can't install it. During the installation I get a message that the automatic installation process doesn't work. Manual installation doesn't work too.
And that's why I'm using VirtualVCR. Great application, only a little bit basic -
oh ok thanx for that,
i didnt try for long with it; 2 mins
and it was with my Winfast, which i have now sold,
i see the new Dscaler supports CX23881 chipsets now,
cool!
i will try again with your suggested settings
i got the BTwincap drives to install with my old Winfast,
i think i manual selected the card and such,
it wouldnt re-boot though,
had to boot in safe mode
uninstall them,
reboot in normal and then it installed them again on its own (WinXP) and it was right as rain after that
heres some eg's using BTwincap and Virtual Dub (VD)

Dscaler works under windows XP. But maybe your card is not supported. Your card only works with NTSC. Have a look at:
http://www.dscaler.org/card-support/index.htm -
I have this card and I am very happy with it. I don't use Vdub for capture since the BTwincap drivers will not install on 98, but will on 98SE and above. But I can use either Ulead video studio or better winfast PVR. Both of which came with the card. I can capture at full resolution when I want, but usaully get it lower to save space and processing time.
One improtant thing in considering quality of any video is what you will watch it on. I only have a 21 inch TV. I just used Shrink on a DVD and backed-up the whole disk at 55% and didn't notice any quality problems. It was a TV series with little action. I have also captured Hi8 video at anywhere from 320x240 to 720x480 and burned it to DVD at either 720x480 and 352x480 and could not tell the difference in any of it. But the lowest resolution sure took less time and space. I know that a difference would be seen with much larger TVs, but if you don't have, or plan to have, one, don't bother.
