  1. Hi,

I want to rip a DVD (Good Fellas) with OSeX. It seems that this is a double sided DVD withe side a and b.
Now the problem: If I want to choose the Track in OSEx it shows me only a track which contains only about 1 hour video (the big track which contains the video itself, not mentionet the little tracks with menus etc.)
If I turn the disk OSex shows me the other 1 hour video

Now, ... whats the best way to rip the movie to my HD???

eg. 1: Is it ok to rip the sides seperately appending the m2v files in a mpeg2-appending-program (if yes whats the best aplikation to do this) reencode the resulted 1 m2v-file with ffmpegx. Then converting the AC3s with bd4go into their aiffs and bring them together in quicktime??? Whats about the sync after doing this?

    or

eg.2: Rip the sides also seperately import them into DVD sp and if the 1 m2v ends that the dvd continues with the second m2v asset???

    Please help!

    Thanx!!
    Markus

PS: I remember when I did the reencoding job withe the DVD Titanic I'm not sure but it was also a double sided DVD and OSex did its Job well without such problems I have now.

For single layered discs such as this, and most double-sided ones, use DVD Backup 1.3 (http://195.134.134.27/downloads/macdvd/) to rip the VIDEO_TS folder to hard drive, and then Toast to burn that VIDEO_TS folder in a new DVD (in DVD mode). Make sure:
    1) You put the VIDEO_TS folder in a new DVD (hit the new DVD button in Toast) so that you have a DVD containing the folder VIDEO_TS, which in turn contains all the .ifo, .bup, .vob files etc. You can also do this by putting the VIDEO_TS folder in another folder with the name of the movie, and dragging that folder onto Toast in DVD mode.
    2) Before running DVD Backup, you must let Apple DVD Player launch and run, so that it authenticates the DVD, so that DVD Backup can find the key to decrypt the DVD.
    Happy ripping!

  4. Well, my intention is to author a DVD containing two 720x576 Movies.
    The Quaity is ok!

Do you know a good mpeg-appending Program for the two m2v files of the one movie from the orig. 2 DVD sides which I received by using OsEx????

Can I also just add togeher the two Movie-Sound-AIff files of the 2 orig. DVD sides which I received from bd4g by using Quicktime?? Whats about the sync???? Anybody got experiences???

    Thanks a lot,
    Markus

Make it easy on yourself and backup each side individually as I described, and then burn each side to a separate DVD-R. I'm not even going to think about trying to merge and downsample them. Spend the extra $0.65 on a second DVD-R and save yourself the countless hours of pain and suffering.
