  1. I use SmartRipper 2.40 to rip DVD's, then use DVD2AVI 1.82, then use tmpgenc regular and plus 2.58.44.152 and then MyDVD to burn the dvd's on my Sony DRU-500A. And this method has worked in the past numerous times.

I can rip the dvd with SmartRipper and then use DVD2AVI and DVD2AVI produces a .d2v and a .wav file. But when I go to use tmpgenc and open the video browse for the video file, it will not recognize any valid files. I use 'all files' and select the .d2v file and it says it's not a valid file. On the audio browse, it will recognize the audio file.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is DVD2AVI suppose to create any other files (like an mpeg file) besides the d2v and wav files.

    Help plz!

  2. the d2v file still requires that you have the original ripped files. Dont delete, rename, or move them or you will get an error.

DVD2AVI project file should be listed as one of the file types along with "all files" and compressable video formats. DVD2AVI project files show in all of them when I checked.

If TMPGEnc isn't showing it when you have "compressable video formats" selected for browsing or it doesn't show dvd2avi, you need to reinstall the TMPGEnc VFAPI plugin.

Also verify in your TMPGenc environment settings for VFAPI plugin that DVD2AVI project reader is showing and checked. If it's not showing in the list at all, reinstall the VFAPI plugin for TMPGenc.

  3. The program is not showing any d2v files...

Ok, I don't mean to sound stupid (oops...probably already did...lol), but how do you reinstall tmpgenc? I didn't know that it actually installed into Windows. It just has an exe file in the directory and runs from there. I can't find anywhere that it's installed into Windows...e.g. shortcuts, under programs...etc

And how to you reinstall the vfapi plugin? Again, sorry if this sounds stupid.

  4. Yes, no d2v files are showing, that's why I was responding how to resolve.

Check the settings I told you to.

Install the vfapi and tmpgenc both if you have to. There should be more files in the tmpgenc folder than just an exe file. Check the readmes. It's pretty straight forward. I'm not home to check myself.

Yes, there are more files...I just didn't know how to re-install the plug-in u r talking about...I will dig deeper

I can use 'show all files' and see the d2v file and when I select it, it says can not open or unsupported file.

    Thanks!

  6. dvd2avi.vfp

thats the file that needs to be in the \tmpgenc folder.

Copy if over from the dvd2avi folder.

Had to search my hard drive on my old video editing pc to find it.
I got it copied over and it will now show the d2v files, but when I click on one and try to load it up, it still says 'Can not open, or unsupported'

  8. Ok, I've made sure the DVD2AVI Reader is showing up in the VFAPI Plug-in's and I've moved it to the top of the list and it has a priority of 1. I also copied the dvd2avi.vfp file to the tmpgenc directoy and now the dv2 files will show up, but I'm still getting that same error that tmpgenc Plus 'cannot open or the file is unsupported'.

Does anyone else have any additional suggestions? This is really driving me crazy. I don't know what the crap is going on...all this use to work perfect.

  9. Bring up the 'environmental settings' window. And click on the VFAPI tab. UNSELECT 'directdraw multimedia show' (or something very similar in name).

Make sure that the VFAPI codec is installed (not just on your system) run the bat file to make sure that your registry has been updated. And that the dv2.vfp file is in the same directory as TMPGenc.

That should fix the problem (should...)

Ok, I unchecked the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and I don't see a batch file for the VFAPI. Here are all the files in my tmpgenc directory:

    Help (directory)
    Template (directory)
    License.en
    P3Package.dll
    P4Package.dll
    Readme.en
    Readme.ja
    tmpgenc.acf
    tmpgenc.exe
    tmpgenc.vfp

So, I must not have it. If you have it, can you send me a copy?

Dark, I had the same problem and was ready to give up until I found the answer. I used DVD2AVI version 1.77.3 to output the dv2 file and it worked like a charm! Good luck.

  13. Yep, you are correct. I was using DVD2AVI 1.76 and for some reason it just stopped working. I downloaded 1.77 and it's working perfect again. I've just been busy and haven't had time to post that I got it fixed.

    Thanks all!
