  1. I'm new to this and have tried converting a AVI file to a MPEG using TMPGEnc, when I play the MPEG on my comp there is no video just sound. I tried making a VCD out of an AVI in Nero and when I play the VCD in my Standalone player it does the same thing no video just sound. What could be the problem.

I presume the original AVI is ok ?

    TMPGEnc
Option >Environmental setting > VFAPI plug-in > Right click the "DirectShow Multi Media File Reader" > select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4, or one below any Mpeg 2 filter you may have

Start you convertion, but stop it after a min or so and test output.

Also check to make sure you have all the codecs
