www.vcdeasy.org . A lot of users reports problems with nero burned svcds but it works when they use vcdeasy. Any video quality differences are there not...only compatibility.

DVDX 2.0, has no problems with Nero, I get excellent results!. -
Nero SVCD authoring seems to be not-quite-compliant. I've authored SVCDs with it and they worked fine, but at the same time I've seen enough complaints of exactly this type to know that it doesn't always work.

I used to burn SVCD's with Nero until it didn't burn right and I switched to VCDEasy but I can't burn anything good..it scans the Mpeg, Creates it and everything BUT when it's about to write the data it fails...it's very annoying cuz Ive wasted like 4 CD;'s...Ive tries simulating works, installed the ASPI drivers..yes..but the writing data fails...anyone got any idea what the hell the problem is..?

I would suggest just using vcdeasy to create the bin/cue image and burning the image with Nero. You'll probably have fewer problems in general if you do that, and it'll save the time and trouble of tracking down which particular problem you're having burning with vcdeasy+cdrdao.

What is the problem with NERO ? I have some SVCD's that I burned using NERO at 4X speed. They all have a one page menu and 5 - 10 Tracks ( encoded with TMPGEnc) and are burned on the same media. I just purchased a new JVC xv-s300 and some of the SVCD's show the menu and others don't. Is this the kind of problem that NERO is known for ?
All these menu's worked on my old samsung S221, But I have had problems in the past with this unit and some other menus. I could never do a multi page menu with NERO. -
can you point me towards a guide to making SVCD's by burning an Image using Nero ?

I only use Nero when menu is pure text, but never had problem with its authoring function. Yup! VCDEasy works great specially when multiple menu is needed, it is very flexible. One great proggy also is the UleadVS6 DVD Plug-in. This one makes simple navigational menu with built-in background to choose from.

3) In Nero, select "Burn Image" from the file menu and select the cue file.
That's it! -
I changed the Pause in Nero to 0 but it is still pause for 5 seconds between each mpeg on SVCD. I don't know what I did wrong.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned DVD2SVCD. It makes superior SVCDs compared to VCDEasy, IMHO. You can download it at dvd2svcd.org. You'll have to get a separate encoder, TMPGen or CinemaCraft Encoder to use in conjunction with it, but that's no big deal. What I like about DVD2SVCD is that with one click of the mouse, you go from DVD extraction or AVI to SVCD including the creation of BinCue files for the number of discs you'll need to burn. It's all figured out for you, so you don't have to sit at the computer waiting for one process to end so you can load files into the next application. You can also recover from a crash or from quitting the process without any trouble. The downside of this software package is that the encoding takes a long, long time, so you will have to be committed to leaving your computer going for hours and hours. I usually begin the process at night before going to bed and when I come home from work the next day the Bin/Cues are all ready to burn!
