    I have read and read and read and still cannot find my answer. I downloaded an .avi file and cannot open it in tmpge so that I can encode it to mpg so I can burn it as a vcd. I have tried separating the audio and video. Succeeded with the audio but cannot extract the video . Please just a little help for an old woman learning to do this stuff.

    In options go to enviramental settings,vfapi tab. Increase the Direct Show filter to 4,it's probably set 0.
