  1. This morning my area had a thunder storm so I unplugged my computer from the surge strip to protect it and the monitor, but after the storm passed I plugged the mon in first them the CPU when I plugged it in, It started up,booting and everything. Didin't give any problem it just acted like I pushed to on button. It was completely shut down,NOT in standby it was off. I tried to reproduce it and it didnt do it again. Was it just a fluke.

  2. i'm guessing it was just a fluke. it depends on what type of computer you are using as well. some seem to be more "flukey" than others. i'm using a compaq presario p3 833mhz, and just 5 minutes ago i went to check my email thru outlook and my computer just sorta went blank, and i had to shut down the power, restarted it and got an "ntkern" windows protection error. so shut it off, and now everything is fine.. it was probably just a fluke, but with my experiences with compaq (long and drawn out), i would not buy another one. if i do buy another pre-built computer, it'll be a dell. but i'll probably wind up building my own.
