  1. I've got a problem with DVD2DVDR. I'm ripping Signs (NTSC), and the ripping goes fine, but after it finishes ripping, I get the following error message.

    1:37:22 AM starting RIP
    2:07:59 AM finished RIP
    2:08:02 AM starting Audiocheck
    2:09:18 AM finished Audiocheck
2:09:18 AM searching for DVD2AVI and Plugin... OK
2:09:18 AM updating Registry for DVD2AVI...
    2:12:29 AM ERROR

What is the problem? It seems like DVD2AVI is to blame. I've tried encoding again with a few smaller files, and I still get the same problem. The error message box that pops up is "server execution failed". This is my first try with DVD2DVDR, so if somebody out there can tell me what usually comes after the "Updating registry for dvd2avi" step, then maybe I can figure out where the process is going wrong. Maybe CCE can't be found? It's hard to troubleshoot being unfamiliar with the process. Please help. Any information will be appreciated.

    thanks

    P.S. I'm using version 1.3.4 of DVD2DVDR

  4. okay, I uninstalled and reinstalled but still getting the same problem. I'm 99% sure that it isn't the installation. It seems like it might be a registry problem because the error comes during the "updating registry for DVD2AVI" step. What i can't figure out is why dvd2avi needs to make a registry entry or what would be the problem with it.

I know that VFAPI is used with DVD2AVI and the doom9.org guide for CCE says that vifpset.bat needs to be executed before the program is used for the first time. however this file is not anywhere in the dvd2dvdr file. Could this be the problem?

Any help with this problem will be very much appreciated, even if it is just a guess. Please help.

  5. it might be an idea to try and get version before 1.3.3 and give that a try..

i tried 1.3.4 but with the few probs it has decided to drop back..

  6. Thanks Mosh. Do you know where I can find that version or any other version? all the links to download the program either lead to a "web page unavailable page" or "you don't have permission to download" page.

  7. thanks nyplayer, this link works.

  8. okay, I followed the link, and the download began, but it goes very slow (about 250 bytes/second) and at around 17%, it cuts off and says the download is complete (but of course it is not). Has anyone else had this problem downloading the program? I didn't have any trouble downloading 1.3.4. I've searched google, but none of the links work. I will keep trying to download from the site listed above, but if anyone knows a better link, please post it.

    Thanks,
    Anthony

Don't know if this helps but6 I've been using DVD2AVI a while, but use SmartRipper to get the vobs out and then DVD2AVI. When I use it, I hit File, then OPEN, then I get a window to find the file. when I find the file and doubleclick, the files I need to convert pop up. Click on the first one and then OK and they all go in unless there are more than 10. In that case click on #10, and #20 and #30 etc.

I got this from Sefy Levy's newbie guide. Don't know anything about eh DVD2DVD-R software.....but I'd LIKE to know how to get a larger than 4.7gb movie onto one disk.......

  10. You will need to use one of the methods that recompress (reencode) using REMPEG, Cinemacraft (CCE), TMPGEnc, or other mpeg2 encoder. Check the guides here and at doom9.

  11. First, let me say thanks to everyone that has helped. i tried versions 1.3.3 and 1.3.2, both gave me the exact same problem as 1.3.4, and I'm just about out of ideas. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling CCE and DVD2DVDR, didn't help any. The only other thing I can think of that might work is formatting my hard drive to get fresh registry settings, but that is a big step and I would need to be sure that dvd2dvdr would work before doing so. I just can't understand why this program would work fine on other computers and not mine. Does this sound like my registry is messed up? any ideas or thoughts would help.

  12. rabiee140, no need to reformat your system. I have gone that route before, but for serious issues, not this. I had the same problem as you and I think I just did a search for DVD2DVDR from the search menu, and deleted all the contents. I didn't even have to go to the registry to delete anything. I had the problem where I couldn't d/l the entire file. Once I did that, I also cleared out my cache in Internet Explorer, as well as the cookies, temporary files, etc. Do those things and you should be able to D/L a fresh copy of DVD2DDVDR, any version, although I use 1.3.2. personally. Let us know how it works out.

  13. The above link worked, and I downloaded version 1.3.2 and 1.3.3. I installed a fresh copy of both of these versions (after uninstalling previous version) and I still got the same problem as in the top of this thread. The program won't go past the "updating registry for DVD2AVI" stage. That is why I think my registry might be messed up. I pretty sure the previous versions were uninstalled completely before I installed a new version, but maybe not. Do you think it could be a registry problem?

  14. rabiee140,

You can download system mechanic fully functional trial version and clean up your registry.

  15. thanks nyplayer, but still no success. I uninstalled dvd2dvdr then ran system mechanic's registry cleaner, then installed fresh copy of dvd2dvdr 1.3.3 and still the same problem. If i could find out what registry entry the program is trying to make for dvd2avi, maybe then i could figure out why it isn't working. Any more ideas anyone?
