    morning Ace2,

    Do you mean, mydivXclip.AVI ??
If there is no .AVI at the end, then just put one in.

    ..or something else ??

    ace2,

sounds like all you did was cut the divX clip. It's still a divX clp (or AVI)
But, w/out the .AVI extention name after the clip, some apps might not
see it, and wont open it. That is, if you pratice this on-going.

In the future, when you cut a divX clip (or any source) remember to see
if the EXTension follows it. If it doesn't, and you catch this, just add the
"correct" extension to using explorer or something.

  7. That is a problem with Virtual dub. Most programs of any sort will add the correct extension to the file you are creating; text editors add .txt, mpeg editors add .mpg, etc. Virtual Dub looks and acts the same as any other program but it doesn't add the extension for you so if you don't remember to add it before commiting the action your output file will not have the correct extension.

  8. Problem might be a strong word for this. It only needs you to type the extra 4 characters (.avi) Easy to do, and it's a great tool

I've been using VirtualDub for three years and I have never seen this problem with the .AVI extension. It produces the file as xxx.00.AVI or xxx.00.00.AVI depending on how many files have with the same name.
I have noticed when saving a wave file that you must put the .WAV extension on though. For some reason it refuses to do so.
    I still using version 1.3c.
